The ROCHE-PORT is small, out of the way and energetic singers won’t kick the mic stand over that would previously be in front of a bass drum.
Any mic can work with the puff of air from the ROCHE-PORT.
The ROCHE-PORT IS INTENTIONALLY SMALL ENOUGH so a mic is NOT placed inside the drum, as that is the most chaotic SPL (sound pressure level) a mic could encounter and that’s why sound checks take so long. The puff of air at 2 inch distance is a far more reliable sound to bank on.
The ROCHE-PORT efficiency should make kick drum sound checks take 15 seconds to get a great kick sound.
Get Real about evaluating sound characteristics of any head combination. It is truly enabled through the ROCHE-PORT without cutting holes through front heads, which will ruin a head investment and sound comparison, or, head comparison and sound investment.
FLOOR TOM BLEED FOR KICKS! ! !
At any time where just the kick is mic’ed, the EQ’d for a kick mic are the best frequencies for floor toms too. Hear the result through the PA! Any size kick drum usually has floor toms near it. Angle the mic to pick up more, less, or none at all.

A tool also supplied in the ROCHE-PORT Bass Drum Packaging is a punch for venting the rear head for more feel and power adjustment. Venting more air out allows the head to be pushed further into the drum and therefore afford longer deeper sustain or shorter sounds as you choose for the greatest range of dynamics and tone, sometimes utilised all in the one song. That’s why it’s fun. You have the control, to hear the outcome your instrument has on the music.
